My journey with indigo began when a teacher shared forty-two sashiko designs—a gift that became a meditation in stitch and pattern. Using graph paper, I first selected the easiest patterns increasing with greater complexity. After repeating ten designs, I mounted the pieces on indigo-dyed duck canvas, resulting in a serenity between blocks and gaps. The work insists on being seen in person.
